Applications are a two-step process: online application followed by an interview.

To confirm your eligibility, please review the criteria.

There is a $25 fee to apply for a full-time or short-term Artist-in-Residence position (applicants to the summer program do not pay a fee). This amount includes tax and is payable by credit card. You will be asked to fill in your credit card information on the application form. If you require an alternative method of payment, please contact craft@harbourfrontcentre.com prior to the deadline.

Applications sent by mail, email, fax or any other means will not be accepted.

Please ensure that your application is complete in every way. A complete application means that the application form and both letters of recommendation are received on or before the deadline.

If any information should change on your application form, please notify us promptly.


If your online application is successful, we will contact you via email to invite you to an in-person interview with the Selection Committee. This interview will take place at Harbourfront Centre in April or May. If you require an alternate date, please email craft@harbourfrontcentre.com by February 1.

Out-of-town applicants must provide for their own accommodation and travel costs for the interview.


Applications and letters of recommendation must be received no later than 5:00pm Toronto local time on the deadline date, without exception.
All forms are online. We do not accept applications by mail, e-mail, or fax.
Please ensure that your application is complete in every way. A complete application means both letters of recommendation are received on or before the deadline.
Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted.

The Selection Committee will have two opportunities to view your images: first with your application submission and again when you are interviewed.

As part of the online application form, you will upload six images of your work.
Please test your images prior to uploading to ensure that they are formatted correctly.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the images you upload are intact and in a readable format.
You are allowed three multiple/detail/installation shots only; the rest of the presentation must be single images.
When submitting images keep in mind the quality of your image is very important.

Letters of Recommendation

It is your responsibility to contact your recommenders to ensure they have sent their letters. Please send them link to online form.
Letters of recommendation must be submitted using the online form. No letters by email, mail, or fax will be accepted.
An appropriate recommender includes a professor, supervisor or employer. Recommendations should be requested from individuals who are prepared to comment on your technical and conceptual ability, qualifications and character.
Please ensure that you enter the recommender’s FULL LEGAL NAME to ensure we can match it to your application.
If the recommender has trouble, please inform us PRIOR to the deadline.
If the recommendation is submitted successfully, the recommender will receive a confirmation email.
